How to Start on YouTube

Do you want to make money on YouTube? You know you wanna make money but you have no idea where to start? If so, this blog post is for you.

The reason I'm making this blog post is to help those of you who know that you wanna do YouTube, you know you wanna make YouTube videos, but you have no clue where to start. You may not know what niche you wanna do videos in, but you just know you want to make videos.

Choosing a Type of Channel

The first step in the process is to choose a type of channel that you want to run. The two main types of channels are personal brand channels and list channels. List channels are basically channels in which you pay other people to create the content for you. Personal brand channels are where the channel is focused around you, so you're going to actually have to be present for making videos on personal brand channels.

Pros and Cons of Each Type of Channel

Now, the benefit of a personal brand channel is that there are so many different ways of monetizing them. The benefit of a list channel that produces something like top 10 videos is that it can be almost fully outsourced. There are some aspects of personal brand channels that can be outsourced, but all-in-all, list channels are way more scalable, in the sense that you can make up to five videos a day, it doesn't matter. You could hire a ton of people to make the content for you. With a personal brand channel, you're more limited to yourself but there are more options for monetization on a personal brand channel.

Which Type of Channel Should You Choose?

Now you're probably asking, “So, which one should I do?” My answer to this is that it depends on yourself. If you're an introvert and you don't like being on camera, I recommend doing a list channel. If you like being on camera and you want to be a personality or you want to be a celebrity, sell courses or products easier, then you should be a personal brand.

You might be saying, “Man, both of them sound good, “but which one should I really do?” And honestly, you can do both. For example, I run one personal brand channel and eight different list channels. You can definitely do both successfully, especially since list channels are highly outsourceable. I basically pay people to manage those channels completely, the only work I do on those list channels are actually uploading and optimizing the videos.

My personal brand channel on the other hand does require more of my time. It requires me to be on-camera and get out of my comfort zone, but there are so many different benefits to running a personal brand channel that I think it's worth it.
